Volunteer opportunity description

We aim to create a society in which everyone feels a responsibility for social justice and is active in ensuring it. Our activities inspire people to take action for social justice through learning about human rights movements and the arts.
This is an opportunity to help recruit and support some of our London based volunteers so they can get the most out of their time with us.  It will involve interviewing prospective volunteers and then meeting them to agree aims and assess progress.
We also need advice on developing our induction process and  creating a volunteers’ handbook.
We do not have an office and volunteers are based all over London. We meet at Idea Store, Whitechapel.
The Volunteer Co-ordinator(s) will liaise with members of the trustee board responsible for appointing volunteers. This role might suit two people sharing it and working and learning together.

There are no specific qualifications required.  We need someone who is personable and reliable, a very good listener and able to put volunteers at their ease, winning their trust.

We need someone with excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with access to a computer and able to maintain clear and confidential records..

You will work closely with members of the trustee board but also need to be self motivated and happy to work alone.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain experience of supporting volunteers in order to ensure they and Journey to Justice achieve the best. You will be joining a vibrant team and meeting a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers. We estimate this role will demand 3-4 hours per week and we would like someone who can commit to it for a year.
