Volunteer opportunity description

Volunteer - Monthly Activity Days (MADs)

Background

With over 40,000 children in care separated from their siblings there is a real need for focus on maintaining sibling contact.

Siblings Together champions, strengthens and builds relationships between brothers and sisters aged 5 to 18 years old who have been separated by the care system.

Founded in 2008, the charity has worked tirelessly to provide siblings separated in the care system with the opportunity for sustained contact as well as supporting their broader social and emotional wellbeing.

With a lively annual programme of events including; Summer Camps, sailing trips, Monthly Activity Days (MADs) and Creative Projects, it is important that the charity increases the publicity of these events in order to extend our reach to siblings in care across the UK.

Volunteer's Role:

Volunteers must be aged 21 and over.

Monthly Activity Days run once a month on a Saturday or Sunday, working with up to 15 young people during each session. Volunteers act in a supportive, befriending capacity ensuring that the day runs smoothly and safely as well as providing a high quality experience for the sibling groups who attend.

We do a range of activities, decided by the sibling groups who attend, and can be anything from arts and crafts to kayaking and ice-skating. Volunteers will work under the direction of the MADs Coordinator to ensure the Siblings Together ethos and values are promoted through the MADs.

This is your chance to make a real difference!
