Volunteer opportunity description

At the Brockley Max Festival (between June 1st and 8th) some of Brockley’s finest venues will be host to music, poetry readings, art installations, dance workshops, talks, street theatre, street art, and craft events.

The festival Opening Night is amazing! Taking place in Foxberry Road near Brockley station from 4.00 - 10.30 pm, it is a fantastic evening of performance. To make such a big event happen, we need lots of volunteers. If you’re free on Friday 1 June for a minimum of two hours (ideally longer) there is surely a role for you.

When: Friday 31st May: A minimum of two hours from 8am-11pm

Activities: Daytime (8am-4pm)

  • Delivery of notices about the event to local houses
  • Preventing people parking cars in the area
  • Generally helping with setting-up of equipment and facilities
  • Giving out programmes to public at Brockley Station

Evening (4-11pm)

  • Selling raffle tickets and handling stickers to tickets-buyers
  • Handing out programmes to the audience
  • Actively ensuring the health and safety of all attendees
  • Preventing unauthorized access to the restricted areas by attendees
  • Providing help and support to the emergency services in the event of a major incident
  • Reporting any anti-social behavior, illegal activity or any potential danger to the security of the workers or volunteer co-ordinator
  • Picking up litter
  • Generally helping with breakdown of equipment and facilities

Training and Induction will be provided

Expenses: We will reimburse reasonable amounts that volunteers have to spend on travel and childcare if agreed in advance and on production of receipt when volunteering for us

Support provided:

  • Face-to-face, phone and email communication during the duration of volunteering period. Feedback forms will also be provided
  • We'll feed volunteers who do more than 4 hours work
  • Volunteers will be provided with a B-Max's T-Shirt


  • Able to take responsibility of your work and work under no supervision
  • Confident talking to the public
  • Able to be polite and courteous
  • Comfortable handling cash
  • Willing to work as part of a team and to cover agreed hours
