Volunteer opportunity description

About Us:

Children with Voices offer a unique service by combining keep fit, Dance, Healthy cooking and eating which allows children to obtain the natural energy that they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We offer different provisions, including after school and school holiday clubs. Our most successful project has been ‘Jumping Beans’ which is our regular holiday club.

Our programmes run in the Hackney area offering sessions for children aged 5-11 years old. Activities are designed to help children develop and learn whilst having fun and making new friends :).

"What I mostly love about Jumping Beans is that we get to dance, exercise and cook. Cooking is my favorite thing to do! Also, I love the staff." - Sonia (one of our Jumping Beans members).

Activities/Responsibilities:

When we run our sessions, children are usually split into small groups, each one with a young volunteer (team assistant) and then a Team leader who ensures that the group is carrying out the tasks needed to help make the session run on time.

Our young volunteers (usually aged between 12-16) are very important to us as they are volunteering their own time to work with younger children and also to improve their leadership skills. However, young volunteers can often tend to be distracted and occasionally need some supervising themselves, which is where you might come in to help!

It would be great if you have any of the attributes below:

• Creative and have a great sense of humour

• Good delegation skills

• Confidence to supervise others

• Motivated & encouraging

• Flexible and adaptable - can help with when help is needed.

• Reliable and committed

• Love working and teaching children

• Multitask skills would be good to have

• D.B.S is a must but we can help with that.

• Cleaning (tidying up mess!)

• Communication & listening skills.

The Team leader roles we have available are;

• Team leader for the under 5 years

• Team leader for age 5 to 11 years

• Team leaders for the young youths.
