Volunteer opportunity description

The Gmax project is unique and special and aims to give 100s of young athletes a chance to participate in athletics developing skills in running, jumping and throwing all year round.

We now have a commercial space which we want to transform into Dragonfly Yoga Studio to help us raise even more funds for our activities.

The beautiful thing about our project is Yoga and Athletics both have got something in common, and that is regardless of your physical ability, everyone can play or join in - both complement each other in unique ways. You can experience mental clarity, strength, lubricated joints and breathing techniques through yoga which are all important components if you want to excel in sports.  We have even seen athletes nurtured to be ranked No1 nationally.

We need your help!  Volunteers needed!

Getting this new venue up and running means you will be helping to create opportunities, positively invest into your Local community and to participate in Yoga for all in a caring and sharing environment, that would be more accessible and…. allows our growth in helping more young people to pursue their passion and realise their dreams.

But in order to create a functional yoga studio, the space had to go through some major internal ceiling to floor decorative changes.

Assist with carrying out several interior building works tasks, such as:

  • Laying wooden floors, plaster boarding walls,
  • hanging some beautiful granite stone tiles,
  • supporting skilled workers with transporting materials around the facility

This volunteer program is suitable for:

Unskilled or skilled manpower to undertake this important fitout work.

It is certainly possible to use the project as part of your university or college placement. Project staff can sign off any paperwork required by your course tutors. Or corporate staff who have companies that work with charities to support the CSR program

Volunteers don’t need to have any previous construction experience, just bags of energy and the willingness to help! The building and renovation work is for volunteers who can commit a minimum of 5 hours at any one time. We would be delighted if volunteers can commit to more hours if they choose, but the project allows volunteers to have the opportunity to devote time at their own convenience.

We welcome any volunteer to join as individual or larger group.

We plan to end the building program in February 2019 when we hope to have a grand opening the where there is opportunity to continue volunteering as part of the Dragonfly yoga studio team

With your help, we can further support young people in the community and you can do your bit to leave a lasting impression!
