Volunteer opportunity description

My AFK are a national charity based in North London supporting disabled children, young people and their families. We do this by providing mobility equipment for people around the UK as well as preparing trainees for life after school through education, training and work placement opportunities.

We are looking for individuals/groups of individuals to plan, organise and undertake fundraising events in their own communities up to 3 times a year in support of my AFK.  If you would love to get involved in your own community as well as help disabled young people then this is the ideal opportunity for you.

My AFK will support the group to work together, form the Fundraising Volunteer Group and deliver great community activities in your local community to raise funds for our young people!

About the Volunteer fundraising group

Although you will be a self-run community group, we (my AFK) will provide you with all the support you need to form your group, work together and be successful and have fun organising any community activities you choose, such as:

  • Training, inductions and support in fundraising.
  • Guidance/training to help you manage the income and keeping the right records.
  • Provide you with any resources you need
  • Maximise income from your fundraising activities
  • Publicise fundraising events
  • Support you to become a success and have lots of fun doing this with your neighbours and fellow community members.
  • Keep up-to-date with my AFK news & events
  • Maintain communication with my AFK Events & Community Fundraising Manager & Volunteer Manager

You do not need any experience in events or fundraising but must have a passion to help change the lives of disabled children and young people, a willingness to learn, be a great team player, good people skills and can offer a few hours a week of your time.

This role does not require volunteers to undertake a DBS check.

my AFK will provide all the resources needed for you to run your events and activities.  We will support you to meet your expenses and will never see you out of pocket.

Timings: This will be very flexible according to your group and you will decide how much time you want to spend on your activities.  This can be discussed when we meet.

We are already running two successful fundraising groups in  Haringey so come along and join us too and we will help you do something great for your community and our young people.
