Great Britain v Kazakhstan, Fed Cup World Group II Play-Off
Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London
Saturday 20 - Sunday 21 April 2019

We have four volunteer roles available; Court steward, Ticket checker, Wayfinder and Team Leader (overview of each detailed below). You can nominate which role you would prefer to do on your application form. If your application is successful, you will be allocated a single role for the duration of the event. The start & finish times are the same for all roles (11.00 - 19.00).

Court steward

  • Ensure fans have the correct tickets for your gate and direct them to their seats
  • Help keep your gate clean and tidy throughout the session
  • Allow fans in at the correct times whilst matches are in action

Ticket checker

  • Scan tickets as fans enter the venue
  • Help create an upbeat, positive atmosphere as people arrive
  • Manage arrival queues and assist wheelchair users with accessing their seats

  • Help direct people to the venue from Stratford tube station/Westfield shopping centre
  • Answer general questions and queries about the event and venue
  • Manage the movement of spectators inside the venue during matches

Team Leader

As a Team Leader, you will typically oversee 8 - 12 volunteer positions in a specific area of the venue. Responsibilities include assisting the Volunteer Manger with communication at a local level, ensuring breaks are taken at the appropriate times and feeding back on any incidents in your area.

11.00 - 19.00*

*Finish times may vary depending on match length. As a general rule, we try to stand down all volunteers as early as possible.

We always timetable sufficient numbers to ensure you’ll receive plenty of regular breaks throughout your session. Plus you’ll always be partnered with at least one other volunteer, so that you’ve got someone to chat with and support you.

If selected, you’ll be required to attend the Volunteer Training Session at the Copper Box Arena on:

Wednesday 17 April, 18.30 - 20.00

At the training session, you will receive a briefing on how to perform your role, as well as an overview of the event itself, security & safety briefings and a site tour. You will also receive your event uniform and accreditation at this session.

  • Event-branded uniform
  • Daily food allowance, plus free refreshments
  • Watch some world-class tennis
  • Be at the heart of a major international sporting event
  • Have fun meeting new people
  • A pre-event Training Session to equip you with all the info and confidence you’ll need
  • Links to further volunteering opportunities

Unfortunately we are unable to provide any expenses for travel or accommodation.

Unfortunately there will be no free parking available for volunteers, however the venue is well served by public transport and there is parking available in the Westfield shopping complex.

Applications close Sunday 17 March (23:59)

Positions offered week beginning Monday 25 March

Training session Wednesday 17 April (18.30 - 20.00)

  • You must be aged 18 or older at the time of the event
  • If selected, you must attend the Volunteer Training Session at the venue
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are available to volunteer for both days of the event
  • Applicants should also note that you will be required to be standing/on your feet for extended periods (although lots of regular, lengthy breaks will be allocated throughout your session)
