Volunteer opportunity description

TITLE: Fundraising Administration Assistant

TIME COMMITMENT: 6 hours a week – ideally the same day each week but not essential.  We hope that you will stay with us for up to 6 months.

OVERALL PURPOSE: The Fundraising Team is currently in one of its busiest ever periods. We need additional help across a variety of administration functions to maximise our impact in 2019 and ensure we provide an excellent level of care to our supporters at all times. You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic volunteer, willing to complete a variety of tasks as requested.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Assist the Fundraising Team with general office administrative tasks such as, filing, printing, mailings.
  • Support the stewardship of supporters e.g. organise and send out fundraising materials; thanking by phone, email and post. 
  • Research and identify funding opportunities as requested by the fundraising team and conduct ad hoc research.
  • Support the team in the organisation of bucket collections, including researching and booking venues and coordinate volunteers 
  • Assist with events preparation such as prize research and promotion. 
  • Assisting the team in entering data onto our Salesforce database.

 

Requirements

Skills/abilities:

  • We are looking for volunteers with some experience of office work:
    • Experience of talking to people on the telephone (we'll help you get confident in this) - you will be talking to all types of supporters and willing to make pro-active telephone calls.
    • We also hope you will be a good communicator able to listen with warmth, understanding and sensitivity.
  • Able to use word, excel, internet, outlook.  We will also show you our database and train you to use it.
  • Good organisational skills as well as writing.

Knowledge/understanding:

  • Interest in charity fundraising.
  • A genuine desire to support older people.

Expenses: We reimburse reasonable travel expenses within London and provide refreshments when you are volunteering with us.
