Volunteer opportunity description

Do you want to gain/or have experience in Social Work, Youth Work, Therapy, Charity or Social Care roles?

Siblings Together are currently recruiting new Camp Workers for our 2019 residential activity camps.

Siblings Together is a UK  based charity that promotes positive contact between brothers and sisters separated in foster care, kinship care, residential care, or adoption. We are the only UK based organisation focused on this need, and are widely acknowledged as the leading independent voice on issues of sibling contact in care.

Our camps provide holidays which are active, nurturing, fun and creative. We aim to provide adventure and to create memorable and meaningful experiences which sibling groups can share together and cherish forever.

Our Camps are for looked after brothers and sisters ages 7 - 18 years with maximum of 25 young people per camp. You will work alongside a qualified youth worker as well as the camp leader.

The role is particularly relevant for volunteers who have a desire to gain experience in Youth or Social work, Therapeutic profesions or Mentoring, although we like to recruit volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds.

Please note the camps are held in August and October and the volunteers will need to be available to stay at the centre for a full week.

All accommodation and meals will be provided and any reasonable transport costs covered.

An enhanced DBS check will also be required, along with participating in Child protection safeguarding training, the cost of which will be met by Siblings Together. Full training in safeguarding and child protection will also be provided.
