Volunteer opportunity description

Community Champions are local people who want to do their bit to improve their communities and the environment.

We are looking for volunteers – of all backgrounds and experience, to join our team of Community Champions and help undertake a variety of important environmental engagement work across the borough of Merton.

Activities include helping with litter picks, community gardening, engaging with community groups and local businesses, working with local schools on important issues such as air pollution, and encouraging behaviour change.

You will will also signpost your neighbours to information on a whole range of other issues, including health and well being, employment and financial/debt advice.

As a Community Champion you will be trained by Sustainable Merton on a range of sustainability issues, including air quality, energy and waste, and will learn and develop new and existing skills, whilst making a positive difference in your community.

Commitment is very flexible and we are more than happy for volunteers to work around their own work/home schedules.
