Description & History

Volunteer Centre Croydon is a department of Croydon Voluntary Action. Our mission is the promotion of more and better volunteering in Croydon. We have continually evolved ever since our creation 30 years ago, working hard as a small team of five staff and ten volunteers.

Volunteering changes lives and transforms communities. We want to make becoming a volunteer as easy as possible for everyone, no matter who they are, what their background or where they come from. Thousands of people volunteer in Croydon every year and we want to increase this number and ensure they have the best possible experience by helping organisations to provide the best and safest experience for their volunteers.  All of this helps Croydon to deliver the best possible services to the local community through volunteering.

We are an accredited Volunteer England Volunteer Centre we have six core functions:

  • Brokerage of opportunities
  • Marketing volunteering
  • Good practice development
  • Development of volunteering opportunities
  • Policy responses
  • Campaigning and strategic development of volunteering
