Description & History

Our Barn’s mission is to support young people and adults to achieve their potential. This aim is delivered through providing learning, life skills and social interaction, and meaningful; support to their families and carers. Current activities are

Our Youth Club

Taking place on Sundays at Redlees Play Centre in Isleworth, where skilled and experienced team leaders use social and informal learning to help young people to:

·       Develop confidence, achieve greater independence

·       Gain skills appropriate for work and adult life

·       Maintain active lives through participation in sport and other physical activities

·       Communicate and express themselves through arts, crafts and drama

·       Expand social networks through new experiences, social events, and residential holidays

·       Take part fully in their local community

Although we have expanded our services, the youth club remains at our core and the unusual Our Barn name comes from the log cabin at Redlees Play Centre.

Gardening at Osterley

Following a successful pilot, Our Barn has established a year-round gardening project on Fridays at Osterley Park, a National Trust property. We are actively expanding this project by securing our own space at Jubilee Lodge within the grounds of the park.

Active Lives

This project aims to increase disabled people’s access to sport and prevent the drop-off in physical activity experienced by young people on leaving formal education.

Carers Project

This is a support group for unpaid family carers, facilitated by a BACP accredited therapist/counsellor. We host a weekly Carers Drop-in session at the BridgeLink Centre, providing information and advice as well as therapeutic support.
