Summer 2015: join the Team London Ambassadors

This summer, the Team London Ambassadors will return to welcome the capital's visitors for the fourth consecutive year. We are delighted to announce that we are recruiting 150 new volunteers to join the Ambassadors this summer.

Team London Ambassadors

Being a Team London Ambassador is all about providing an outstanding welcome to the capital’s visitors. The original 2012 Team London Ambassadors made the role famous during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we now need the same passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment that the Ambassadors have become renowned for.

The programme will run from late July to late August at nine locations across the capital.

There will be three blocks of shifts per week (Monday-Wednesday, Thursday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday), and Ambassadors will be required to volunteer for at least six shifts. The shifts are four hours long.

All volunteers are provided with travel expenses for within zones 1-6 for Central London locations. For Gatwick Airport, Ambassadors are provided with additional travel expenses (up to £25 per day) from outside of zones 1-6 including mileage costs and free parking.

All volunteers are provided with a daily refreshment allowance and Team London Ambassador uniforms (two T-shirts and a raincoat).

Ambassadors also receive excellent customer service training, a range of discounts and the opportunity to win prizes along the way.

Selection and training

All new Ambassadors who are shortlisted will be required to attend a short selection event on either 7, 8 or 11 March at City Hall.

If you’re offered a role, you’ll need to attend an introductory Foundation Training session in Central London on either 16, 18 or 19 April, plus a location-specific training session in June.

Get involved - apply today

To rapply to be a Team London Ambassador, please apply by Sunday 8 February.

I love to socialise, get out and about. Confident at speaking with customers(strangers) and at making them feel at ease. Most of all- I love London ! Available weekends only as I work full time in private healthcare.

To introduce myself
I live near to central London south of the river can be in London bridge in 12 mins via train and Victoria, tottenham court road and Kings X via bus. , I am a retired met community officer , so I have good experience in security I took and passed SIA in 2012 and I worked for a short time at Horse guards for the Olympics , I volunteered for the Barclays BST last summer and fully enjoyed my first voluntary experience , I am in the process of filling out a form to hopefully join Kent police as a special constable . I know what it is like to work shifts and work in all weathers, prior to this I was a residential social worker and prior to that a catering manager I once worked hard to work as a catering manager with the met police running my own cash cafeteria unit , I came third in a cookery competitions, I won many awards as the best school cook in Lewisham, I put in a lot of my own time as well as paid time to assure the children had excellent school meals , not the type of school meals are stereotyped with .

Having seen the huge success of the Ambassadors at the London Olympics, I would like to become involved in Team London. My partner is already involved in the scheme and it would be amazing to be able to share this experience with her. I have lived in London all my life and would be very proud to represent my home city. I am fluent in French and Spanish. I am available to attend the training sessions.

Born and raised in London I am a passionate supporter of our capital and would be proud to welcome visitors to our greatest city. Fluent in both French and Spanish I would welcome the opportunity to give back to the city that raised me. My partner has been a proud Ambassador since the 2012 Olympics and the chance for us to represent London together would be immensely satisfying.
